About the artist
Maya Kimche Simon
Maya Kimche Simon is a painter working between landscape and abstraction. Her mixed-media pieces — built from layered acrylic, plaster, charcoal and graphite on board — begin in observation and dissolve into memory, where a horizon becomes a feeling and a field becomes a state of mind.
She is drawn to the quiet places where earth, water and weather meet, working in muted, weathered tones that hold light the way old stone does. Across the work, a single calligraphic line often runs through the strata — a trace of presence in an emptied space.
